Violent Crimes

The Cleveland Division Violent Crimes/Major Offenders (VCMO) Program agents investigate Violent Street Gangs, Crimes Against Children, Innocent Images National Initiative, Kidnappings, Violent Incident Crimes, i.e. Bank Robbery, Bank Burglaries, Fugitives, Major Thefts and Transportation Crimes.

The Division currently oversees five Safe Streets Violent Crimes Task Forces in Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Toledo and Youngstown. The mission of these Task Forces is to attack street gangs and drug related violence, as well as seek the most significant fugitives wanted for crimes of violence through the establishment of long-term, proactive and coordinated teams of federal, state and local law enforcement officers and prosecutors.

Select fugitives sought by the Cleveland/Cuyahoga Fugitive Task Force may be seen each Monday in the Plain Dealer newspaper’s "Most Wanted" column, and occasionally on CBS affiliate stations WOIO-TV 19/WUAB-TV 43 "Crime Stoppers".
